Before we begin, we have a quick question to get to know you at the bottom of the blog. We would appreciate if you take a second to answer it 🫶
I hosted over 200 people in NYC and Boston, and here's everything I learned about consumers and their preferences.

For privacy reasons, let's call this consumer Drew. Drew and I began chatting because he was one of the few men attending our events. It was in the early days, and I knew I wanted to create some type of content agency, but I wasn't sure exactly what yet.
Typically, these social events were attended by Gen Z women (ages 22 to early 30s). We weren't networking; we were just there to hang out and build our community over food (hence our name, khaa-lo).
Drew had been using AI but was concerned that AI might eventually take his job. So, I asked him about AI-generated photos that some small businesses (not us, as I handcrafted the art for most of our events) have used. Drew's response was intriguing and became a foundation for our branding and product direction.
He told me he simply didn't care. Being Gen Z and from a family of small business owners, he understood that using AI for marketing could be effective. However, he felt quite neutral about it. If he encountered AI-generated content, he would consider it equivalent to spam content and move on (another takeaway was that we are desensitized to "spam" content and tend to ignore it rather than react to it).
On the other hand, he did ask ChatGPT for recommendations for restaurants prior to going on a date.

I found this interesting but also a repeating pattern in our user interviews, especially with marketing specialists (particularly social media managers). Often, people did not have a reaction to AI generated content yet were increasingly relying on AI for recommendations.
While we are still experimenting with AI content, User Generated Content, when done right, almost always has more of a reaction that leads to visibility amongst peers.
But UGC for social media is not enough in how saturated the platforms have become. Don't get me wrong, it still is the best marketing gimmick, but the potential for AI to generate leads cannot be overlooked.
TechCrunch reported that the number of weekly active users has more than doubled in the last year, growing from 500 million to over 800 million between March and October 2025.Â
So where do you get started? In the coming weeks, we are going to start sharing our findings from the past 6 months of helping young consumer brands get visible. We will be sifting through real life conversations, our observations, challenges we faced in recording AI crediting, and of course, our successes that is leading us here.
